Document: TCC865 Letter, 1803 Jan. 13, Clarksboro[ugh, Georgia to] Edwin Mounger, Louisville, [Georgia] / Tho[ma]s P. Carnesauthor: Carnes, Thomas Petters date: January 13, 1803 extent: 2p summary: Letter from Judge Thomas P. Carnes to Edwin Mounger, Georgia state treasurer, dated (incorrectly) January 13, 1802. Carnes requests payment for his salary and indicates that the funds should be delivered to Colonel Harris. He also makes reference to an expedition into the Cherokee Nation. A note on the back of the letter by Mounger, the recipient, reveals that the January 13, 1802 date is incorrect since the expedition referred to did not take place until December 1802. Mounger notes that the correct date of the letter is January 13, 1803. It is unclear why Carnes had travelled into the Cherokee Nation. repository: Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries collection: Telamon Cuyler box: 74 folder: 01 document: 02 subject headings:
