    The employment of [unclear: J ]H Brysonauthorized in my previous communication may be dispensed with. care will be necessary in erecting the store House that the lumber be of a good quality & plank well seasoned [unclear: particularly] respecting which are contained in my last communication. [unclear: great] care must be observed

    with regard to [unclear: Pink root]. Snake root & ginsang [ginseng] to call on Capt Jarrettfor instructions. to keep his Books nice and to use Black ink. make no bad debts and secure such as have been made -- but the [unclear: case] not to be resorted to unless a strong presumption of fraud exists, am engaged in making a report to the commissioner of Indian Affairs the amount due the CherokeesEast procured payment of the U.S.for corn delivered on Starretts contract, had procured the establishment of a post office at Indian Townby the name of Qualla TownH P. King[illegible] It will be necessary to sleep in the store House every night -- I enjoy good health, notwithstanding my close attention to business. all the claims allowed by the Commissioner will probably have to undergo an examination by the Department give my respects to squire Hayes& family and to inquiring friends. inform the Cherokeesthat I will inform them of particulars in a few days. write me the amount of Thomas Whites debt and the name of the officer who from the custody of the civil [unclear: affair]. also the particulars in relation to the same.
