    Washington City Nov 11, 1839

    Capt N S Jarrett
    Franklin

    Informed him by a letter from Mr Fisherwas informed my ginsang [ginseng] was good requested him to inform Dr Heylinof the amount, and me at this place

    directed him to enclose his order to JW Kingon me from William Cuninghamand to direct Kingto charge it to his account (109$)

    sent proper Washingtongirls to those in Buncombeor else where [elsewhere], I have not seen or heard from Miss Gpresume she as well as all other Buncombegirls could do better than receve [receive] the addresses of an old bachelor like me --

    stated my difficulties in courting, a young girl might not love me if I did her old maids scold and widows recollect the virtues of their past husbands and none of their vices, have not had time to consider the subject but will reserve it on my return, the Com I A [Commissioner of Indian Affairs] has not completed his decision presume he will shortly if unfavorable will appeal to secretary of War Then to the President Congress & Supreme Court, have enclosed you a printed argument written in Cherokeestile [style] --

    Have not been in any of David [illegible] Houses of destruction
